Professional Development aimed at preparing teachers for the upcoming changes is critical at this stage. Workshops are a hands-on/minds-on way to engage with the 3 dimensions of the Standards in a way that helps teachers experience how to learn about phenomena at a deep level. Fall workshops can be found at this link, and Winter/Spring workshops will be coming soon.
The Board of Regents memo from June 2016 contains a timeline for transitioning to the new New York State Science Learning Standards. That memo can be found here. The memo itself targets a fall adoption date with next steps and timely transition to full implementation. Science standards will be coming to the BOE for final approval in December (current timetable).
